New dates added to our 0-3 Music Group

Due to popular demand, we’ve added an extra music class for 0-3 year olds on Mondays – meaning we currently have spaces available for the 8.30am class and the 9.45am class. The classes are Colourstrings/Kodaly based music classes run by one of our incredible music teachers, Miss Greenwood, and are great for early child development and language skills – and for boosting confidence and independence. Each class lasts for 45 minutes, followed by a stay and play with refreshments. Please email admissions@perrotthill.com to book.

Star of the Week

Well done to Freddie, who became the first ‘Star of the Week’ in Year 4 this week in a new initiative introduced by Mr Hannell. The class pick a name out of a hat and then each class member writes a positive comment about that pupil as a way of celebrating their unique qualities and talents. Freddie has been described as having ‘a great smile’, being ‘a brilliant side-stepper in rugby’ and being ‘amazing at art because he is creative’. Lovely praise and well-deserved, Freddie.

Paul Corfield Art Project

Pupils in Years 3-8 have been studying the work of local artist Paul Corfield – and we were blown away by the incredible artwork they produced over the Easter holidays. Says Paul: “I remember as a young child that I used to love working on school projects, but I never imagined that one day I may be the subject. Tell the children that they have done a wonderful job and that I was genuinely moved by the work that they have produced.” High praise indeed! Well done to all the children involved.

OPH Tom selected for Somerset

Well done to Old Perrott Hillian Tom, who has been selected to play rugby for the Somerset U15s. Our Director of Sport, Simon Sheldon, has had a lovely email from Tom’s dad, who says: “When Tom arrived at Perrott Hill he had no idea how to play rugby and wasn’t at all interested in it. But thanks to you, he now loves it – and he cites you as the person who taught him how to play.” What lovely news to share. We look forward to watching your continued development at King’s Taunton, Tom.

Scholarship success

Hot on the heels of our art, sport, drama and all-rounder scholarships to Blundell’s, Harrow, Taunton, King’s Bruton and Sherborne Girls, we are delighted to announce even more scholarship success, with academic and sports scholarships to King’s College, Taunton and academic, art and drama scholarships to Queen’s College, Taunton. Not only that, but one of our Year 8 girls has been awarded the coveted Festival Cricket scholarship from King’s College Taunton – a rare award, given to a single candidate each year. Well done to all!

Year 3 open the House Poetry

Our Year 3s opened last week’s House Poetry competition with a fantastic rendition of French rhyme La Grenouille, which they had been practising in class with Mademoiselle Robillard. Félicitations à tout le monde, une belle représentation!

World Book Day

Our rescheduled World Book Day celebrations got off to a flying start, with our bus drivers being greeted by a vast array of fictional characters in the morning! There were all sorts of activities throughout the school but our favourite photo has to be this one – the Nursery children all dressed up and on their way to our library to change their books.
