Last Friday saw a wide range of volunteer work take place as part of our Community Action Morning. The children spent their morning lending a hand at St Michael’s church yard in Haselbury Plucknett, the community orchard, North Perrott Cricket Club and a care home in Yeovil. The stiles on North Perrott’s Parish Council’s footpaths also received some welcome attention as did the Victorian stairs leading to our woods. The Charity Fund Raising morning was hugely enjoyable and raised a whopping £404.63 for Help for Heroes! Particular thanks go to all those parents who donated toys for the Year 6 Toy stall – the combined Year 6 stalls alone raised over £65.00!
This week, we welcomed staff from schools across the South West to our first two-day Mental Health First Aid England training course. The course, led by our Head of Learning Support and Mental Health instructor, Lucy Silk, alongside fellow MHFA instructor, Debbie Spens, aims to raise understanding and awareness of a range of mental health issues in schools – and is especially timely ahead of World Mental Health Day next week. As our children wrote on a school-wide piece of artwork to raise mental health awareness earlier this year, ‘we are each unique and beautiful, but together we are a masterpiece’ – and we are proud to be flying this important flag.
Huge congratulations to Lucy, Poppy and Henry, who qualified for the NSEA Grass Roots Regional Final at Leweston this weekend. Great work, Team Perrott – and what a fantastic achievement. Bring on the finals!
Perrott Hill recently played host to over 23 senior schools for our Senior Schools’ Symposium in our Sports Hall – and it was such a pleasure to see so many parents take advantage of this fantastic event. Thank you to all our senior school friends for coming along and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
We were delighted to welcome our new golf coach, Paul Fiddes, last week. Paul is a touring professional who has played all around the world including Augusta; he is also the Head PGA Professional at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club. Great to have you on board, Paul!
Our Pre-Prep children have been hard at work in Forest School, with a focus on teamwork this half term. As well as working together to build a bug hotel and sawing cookies for a large wooden hanging, they’ve also been working on pond conservation with Mrs Palmer and making apple crumble with fruit gathered from the apples trees at school!
Our first assembly of the year was an absolute corker! New Headmaster, Alex McCullough, spoke of the Tour de France jerseys and about how success does not always mean winning the race; it’s about finding your niche or being the rider who works for the benefit of the team. Here’s to a year of inspiration and adventure!
What an absolute joy to see Perrott Hill on the cover of Country Life’s school supplement, School Life, this month. Thanks to Country Life and photographer Millie Pilkington for an amazing shoot!
The Tatler Schools Guide 2019 has landed, and we love our review. “Perrott Hill is an establishment that punches above its weight,” it affirms, with mention of our incredible scholarship successes, the strength of our art department, the varied and impressive sporting achievements and the range of ‘innovative’ extracurricular clubs. Also: “Parents rave about the beautiful setting and the wonderfully warm and supportive atmosphere.” We couldn’t agree more. Proud to be Perrott!
Well done to our recent Year 8 leavers, who have all now started at their chosen senior schools and who secured an incredible 18 scholarships between them. In the words of the Tatler Schools Guide, ‘sterling stuff for such a smallish school.’ The full list of leavers’ destinations for this year can be found in the admissions section: www.perrotthill.com/leavers-destinations/
