The Perrott Young Farmers paid a visit to Neil Baker’s farm in neighbouring Haselbury Plucknett before half term, ahead of his brilliant lecture on farming. They witnessed his huge rotary milking parlour being put through its paces, saw the cows munching on their supper and saw the farm’s two bio digesters at work. The digesters are powered by the methane generated by the slurry from the farm’s 1,800 cows and provide enough electricity to run the farm and plus an additional 900 homes. Many thanks to Neil for a superb afternoon and a fascinating lecture as part of our Years 3-8 Lecture Programme.
