PSHE

Personal, Social and Health Education lessons play an important part in the academic and pastoral life of the pupils at Perrott Hill and each child from Nursery to Year 8 has one lesson per week.

We follow the Jigsaw PSHE programme with its extensive curriculum, but the most important aspect is the development of trust so that children feel free to give their opinions. The subject helps to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to live confident, healthy and independent lives; it also helps them develop into informed, active and responsible citizens.

Pupils are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences across, and beyond, the curriculum, contributing fully to the life of the school and community. In doing so, they learn to recognise their own worth, work better with others and become increasingly responsible for their own learning. They reflect on their experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. They also learn about the main political and social institutions that affect their lives and about their responsibilities, rights and duties as individuals and citizens.
