“Time and space for a full education”

Nursery and Pre-Prep

Situated within the beautifully converted stable courtyard adjacent to the main school buildings, our nursery and pre-prep children thrive in their own safe, secure environment. Children can join from the age of 3 and at any time during the school term.

We skilfully combine the principles of the Montessori system of education with the Government's Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

In the nursery, children learn and develop through practical, play based activities and are supported to try a wide variety of activities and share their experiences with each other. Great emphasis is placed on encouraging the children to support each other and ‘to learn how to learn’. Children make a seamless transition to the separate Reception class where further solid foundations are laid in preparation for the more formal style of learning in Year 1.

In Year 1 and Year 2, the main focus of each morning is English and mathematics, with geography, history, science and RE in the afternoons. The children are taught by specialist teachers for Art, PE, ICT, French and Music and all Year 2 pupils have the opportunity to learn the violin.

Every week our pre-prep children spend an afternoon at our onsite Forest School and lessons often encorporate an outdoor learning element.

Our varied after-school care is available from 4.00pm to 5.45pm with a range of free and paid activities and clubs children can participate in. These activities and clubs change on a termly basis and parents sign their children up at the start of each term. Our after-school care has been designed to give flexibility and also so that pre-prep children can be collected at the same time as older brothers and sisters.
